Case Studies

  • Underreporting Husband

In a divorce situation, it was discovered that the husband was underreporting several sources of income. First, he was not reporting all of the rent income that he received from one of his companies. Second, he was not reporting rent income received from his son. In addition, the husband improperly deducted expenses related to home grounds maintenance, home cleaning, home utilities, and travel costs. These items and more, when found out, increased the maintenance and child support due to the spouse.

  • Value Revealed

In a recent divorce case, the husband had been deducting quite a few personal expenses through his business. This amounted to about $50,000 per year. This increased the value of the business by over $200,000 of which his wife was entitled to half.
